What is A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)?
A Power Purchase Agreement is a contractual arrangement in which power producers sell electricity to a buyer, such as WattTrust. WattTrust offers power producers full transparency and access to wholesale market prices.
With WattTrust’s extensive experience in the renewable energy sector and state-of-the-art platform, renewable energy assets have a straightforward and efficient path to the market. This means that by being a part of the WattTrust community, producers can maximize the value of their generated electricity while accessing the same market opportunities as large power plants. WattTrust provides a range of top-tier PPA options that can be customized to meet the unique needs of each producer.
Our goal is to provide equitable and transparent market access to our customers, enabling them to maximize their investment in renewable generation.
Since 2016, WattTrust has been actively involved in the UK Power Purchase Agreement market, with over 1GW of renewable generation capacity – sufficient to power 2.5 million homes through our platform. We manage renewable generators from various sources, including solar, wind, hydro, landfill gas, anaerobic digestion, biomass, CHP, and energy from waste.

Fixed Power Purchase Agreement
For budget certainty, a Fixed Price PPA locks in a power price for generation at the time of contract signing.
This means our 600+ satisfied customers know exactly what they earn for each MWh generated over their time with us. This is reflective of the UK forward power market and reduces our customer’s exposure to forward market price fluctuations.

WATT TRUST
Flexible Power Purchase Agreement
Flexible PPAs enable renewable generators to receive a market reflective price against the European Power Exchange (EPEX SPOT) Day-Ahead market.
This Day Ahead market trades in hourly blocks, so customers will get a different price for each hour they generate. This is most reflective of the true cost of electricity on a given day but can be very volatile between high and low demand periods. While this may sound like a time-consuming task, our customers do not need to worry, as Watt Trust’s intelligent forecasting software and dedicated trading team are always on shift to maximise an asset’s value.

Track & Trade Power Purchase Agreement
Track & Trade PPAs enable renewable generators to track the forward market in real time, giving them an increased chance to lock in their pricing at the time of a price spike, rather than in conjunction with their annual renewals cycle.
Track & Trade customers, therefore, opt into the Day Ahead Index, and WattTrust tracks the forward power price daily on their behalf. Watt Trust also alerts customers when the price spikes and deviates from their agreed floor or ceiling levels, providing the flexibility to take advantage of price fluctuations and achieve greater optimization of their generation asset.
